Elgin Vineyard invites community to Friend-Fest

Vineyard Church of Elgin invites kids to come in out of the cold this Saturday, Jan. 27, for Friend-Fest, a carnival-type indoor fair with games and prizes, face painting and hot dogs, nachos and other snack foods.

All families are invited, and everything is free.

The main event in the big room features 15 games. Children will get a card that can be stamped at each station, and stamps can be exchanged for prizes. Wagon rides are available for little kids.

Volunteers have also designed a Calm and Creative Room, with books, magnets, fort-building materials and other activities for children who prefer a quieter space.

Friend-Fest is sponsored by the Vineyard Kids ministry, with Molly Ackerman as Vineyard Kids Director.

“Come in and leave that dreary weather outside and find just the opposite -- some warmth and fun and encouragement,” Ackerman said. “Friend-Fest is an event to look forward to, something that will generate a lot of laughter and memories with your family.”

The event takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Elgin Vineyard, 220 Division St.
