One man shot, another stabbed during Elgin traffic altercation

One person was shot and another stabbed Tuesday in what Elgin police say was a traffic altercation.

Officers responded at 2:42 p.m. to Sherman Hospital in Elgin when a man who had been stabbed was admitted, police said. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation determined the stabbing took place during a traffic altercation near Randall Road and Fox Lane, where another man was located with a gunshot wound, which also didn’t appear to be life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital as well.

Police said everyone involved in the altercation has been located, and detectives from the Major Investigations Division are actively investigating.
