Laundry room fire damages Naperville townhouse

A laundry room fire caused $25,000 in damage to a Naperville townhouse and left it temporarily uninhabitable over the weekend.

Naperville firefighters responded at 4:41 p.m. Saturday to the 2900 block of Saganashkee Lane for the report of smoke coming from an appliance in a townhouse.

When firefighters entered the home, they saw flames and smoke coming from the laundry room.

No one was injured in the fire. However, the home was deemed uninhabitable when gas service was shut off to the home.

Gas service has since been restored, and the occupants are back home, Naperville Fire Department Division Chief John Sergeant said on Monday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
