The Garden Club of Inverness annual holiday luncheon at Medinah Country Club

The Garden Club of Inverness presented its “Celebrate the ”Season of Light” on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Medinah Country Club. Members and guests enjoyed cocktails, raffles, a silent auction and a craft sale.

New this year, the club offered a “My Favorite Things” sale. Club members donated items that are favorites of theirs. Guests purchased these surprise bags and were delighted to find the special items inside. Items ranged from gift cards to wine to chocolate to movie theater tickets and much more.

Back for his third time, was club favorite Robert Neri of Robert’s Floral Design Studio. Neri created beautiful holiday floral pieces, which were won by attendees to take home. Neri established his studio in 1981, and has created wedding flowers in all major Chicago Hotels and public venues. A well know educator of floral design in Chicago, he has also conducted classes at Wright Junior College for more than 25 years.

The annual holiday luncheon is the highlight of the club’s year and supports scholarships for students studying horticulture and environmentally related fields.
