Vernon Area library seeks public input to plan for improvements

The Vernon Area Public Library will be hosting open houses for the public to review vision boards, share ideas, ask questions and express priorities on future improvements. The sessions are 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the library, 300 Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire. The library board last month hired RATIO Design of Chicago to provide concepts for redesign, remodeling and a possible building addition. Targeted listening sessions with various stakeholder groups including community leaders, English as a Second Language students, young families and teens will be held. Additional opportunities for public review and feedback will be made available online at http://VAPLD.info/LibraryPlan. The project will assess and make recommendations across the entire library campus, including the 50,000-square-foot main building, 10,000-square-foot annex building, and grounds and parking areas.
