One killed in 3-car crash in Round Lake, and 2 hospitalized
A 47-year-old man was killed in a three-car crash Tuesday on Route 60 and Bacon Road in Round Lake and two people were hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries, Round Lake police said.
Police were called to the crash site about 8:14 a.m. and found people trapped in multiple vehicles and one person unresponsive, authorities said.
The preliminary investigation shows a westbound Toyota Camry was struck by an eastbound Dodge Durango, which had crossed into the westbound lane, according to a news release.
The Dodge then was struck in the rear by a Volkswagen Jetta, police said.
Grayslake firefighters assisted Round Lake police officers to help extricate passengers from one vehicle.
Grayslake fire Battalion Chief Jim Weidman said one person was stuck between a door and the dashboard, requiring special care and extra time for removal.
All passengers were removed within 14 minutes, he added.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team continues to investigate the crash.
