Picking fights is not same as being a fighter
I have a response to John Gibson's letter saying that Trump's appeal is that he is a fighter. Trump is not a fighter; Trump likes to pick fights. There is a difference.
A fighter is someone who will stand firm in dire situations. Winston Churchill was such an example. He saw the need to stand up to Hitler even though his own party told him that Britain was in no position to stand up to Germany.
Trump likes to pick fights and get very personal with anyone who opposes him. He has just used the birther lie against Nikki Haley, as he did against Obama. Such behavior doesn't make someone strong or a fighter. It shows extreme insecurity and weakness.
You say he is a fighter? He referred to Putin as a strong leader, and never said anything critical of Putin. This, even though there are indications that Putin has had dissidents poisoned or imprisoned. Biden at least got NATO on board to respond to Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Would Trump have done that?
Our European allies certainly don't have confidence that he will honor our commitment to NATO if he gets back in office.
