Downers Grove church to host benefit concert for Bridge Communities
On Sunday, March 3, the Bridge Board of the First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove invites the community to join the Encore 2024 Benefit Concert for Bridge Communities at 3 p.m.
They will be welcoming back favorite performers from past Encore concerts and new musicians for an afternoon of music ranging from jazz to pop, to classical, and Broadway favorites.
The concert is a fundraiser benefiting the Bridge Board, which is a program partner with Bridge Communities, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in transition to self-sufficiency.
The focus of Bridge Communities is to transform the lives of homeless DuPage County families by guiding them to a better future including providing housing, mentoring, direction, hope, encouragement, and a stable environment in which families can become self-sufficient and sustain their independence.
The cost to support each family is around $12,000 to $14,000 annually. Each family is mentored for two years making our involvement a large and very exciting outreach in which the church is happy to be involved.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased either in person or online via dgfumc.org/give/. Select Online Giving, scroll to the Outreach section, and select Bridge Encore Concert to make your ticket purchase.
In-person ticket sales in February will be at Anderson’s Bookstore, 5112 Main St. in Downers Grove, (630) 963-2665, or on Sundays, Feb. 18 and 25 after the 10 a.m. worship in the church parlor, 1032 Maple Ave.
