Elgin Donor Club book review raises $12.6k for local charities

The Donor Club of Elgin held its annual book review and luncheon on Sept. 28 at the Elgin Country Club with 182 people in attendance. Proceeds from the luncheon, raffle baskets, and sales of cookies and books raised $12,600 for local charities.

The recipients included: Oshea Training Center, Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley, Food for Greater Elgin, Boys and Girls Clubs of Elgin, Community Crisis Center, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, One Hope United, PADS of Elgin, Well Child, Family Service Association of Greater Elgin, Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Elgin, and Gail Borden’s children services.

The success of this event serves as a testament to the community’s dedication to making a positive change, and emphasizes the power of collective goodwill.

The highlight of the afternoon was Jenny Riddle’s review of “The Palace Papers“ by Tina Brown. Riddle portrayed Camilla Parker Bowles. Attendees all enjoyed hearing some Buckingham Palace insights and gossip.
