Kane County authorities investigating armed robbery

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early Friday morning armed robbery at a gas station in Sugar Grove Township.

According to authorities, a Black male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet, entered the BP Gas Station off Route 47 around 2:49 a.m., dressed in all black, with white gloves, black shoes and a surgical mask.

The man implied he had a weapon and took $200 from the store clerk. The clerk was cleaning the store after it had closed, but the front doors had not been locked, authorities said.

The man left the gas station in a vehicle described as a blue or gray 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle was seen last driving eastbound on Jericho Road from Route 47. A photo of the vehicle was not yet available.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the investigations division of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office at (630) 444-1103.
