Does this plot line sound familiar?

I just read “Blackout” by Simon Scarrow. In the vein of Philip Kerr’s Bernie Gunther series, it’s a well-researched historical novel based in 1939 Berlin.

It’s a frightening look at life under Nazi rule, where all personal freedom of choice and thought is controlled. Germany was rife for a fascist takeover after the loss of WW I with the reparations, hyperinflation, and communist riots.

One of Hitler’s campaign slogans was “Make Germany Great Again”. Joseph Goebbels, his minister of propaganda, had a philosophy that ‘Repeat a lie often enough, and people will believe it’.

Does this sound like anyone we know?
