Misericordia Women’s League goes for the gold with annual benefit on Feb. 24

“It’s As Gold As It Gets” for the Misericordia Women’s League as the devoted group shines a light on Misericordia at the annual Heart of Gold Benefit on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Westin Hotel in Lombard.

The Heart of Gold Benefit is the largest fundraiser for the Women’s League, with more than 650 guests expected to attend this year’s event. Over the past 27 years, the League has raised more than $9 million for Misericordia, including $1 million at last year’s benefit.

Formed in 1996 by just four women, the Misericordia Women’s League has now grown to more than 180 women from across the Western suburbs, who share a passion for Misericordia’s mission of providing care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“I am extremely proud and filled with gratitude for this wonderful group of dedicated and devoted women,” said Sr. Rosemary Connelly, chairman of the Misericordia Foundation.

“This group of women is always so generous with their time and their talents in helping to bring this event to life,” said Catie Lee, president of the Misericordia Women’s League. “The Heart of Gold benefit is always a fun and inspiring night honoring everything Misericordia stands for. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone who shares our passion for supporting Misericordia.”

The Feb. 24 event will also celebrate the continued support and generosity of 2024 Heart of Gold Award recipients, Jo Marie Ferro and Cathy Hofmann. Jo Marie and Cathy are longtime friends and supporters of Misericordia who have served the League in countless ways. Together they have chaired the benefit, led ad sales for the program book, coordinated the silent auction, and put together the Heart Gallery of members’ photos and inspirational quotes included within the program book. Jo Marie and Cathy always bring their positive attitude and generous spirit to everything they do for Misericordia, and the League is thrilled to honor their contributions with the 2024 Heart of Gold Award.

“Being a part of this League has brought such joy into my life and I’m so grateful to know this wonderful group of women,” said Jo Marie. “It is such a privilege to work with this incredibly inspirational group and be able to support a cause so near and dear to all of us,” added Cathy.

The Heart of Gold Benefit, As Gold As It Gets, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at the Westin Hotel in Lombard at 6:30 p.m. Attendees can expect a night of fun and entertainment, with live performances by the band Strawdawg, the Misericordia Heartbreakers, both live and silent auctions, and a 50/50 raffle.
