Waubonsee to host MLK celebration and brunch Jan. 17

Waubonsee Community College will celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the student center cafe on the Sugar Grove campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

Theodia Gillespie, president and CEO of the Quad County Urban League and director on Waubonsee’s Foundation Board, will be the keynote speaker on equality and empowerment, followed by a Q&A.

Immediately after the program, join the “Hope & Harmony” Brunch.

This complimentary brunch offers a spread of dishes, set to the backdrop of live smooth, harmonious jazz music. Engage in meaningful conversations with guided discussion prompts that reflect on the day’s themes and Dr. King’s legacy. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect, reflect, and enjoy a relaxing meal together in harmony.
