Stay warm with live music and crafting projects at Gail Borden Library

Warm up your winter with live music or a creative craft project! These programs take place at the Main Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road in Elgin, or South Elgin Branch, 127 S. McLean Blvd., South Elgin. Some programs need registration. Nothing But Treble

The local chorus Nothing But Treble will sing an outstanding repertoire for women’s voices of every genre with a strong nod to female composers and music from around the world at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Rakow Branch. Registration is required.

Sunday Afternoon Concerts

These concerts take place at 2 p.m. in the Main Library Meadows Community Rooms. On Jan. 21, the Silver Rose Duo of flute and guitar will capture the wonder of songs, dances and legends from around the world. Then on Feb. 25, internationally renowned and award-winning concert pianist Lindsay Garritson returns to the library for another astounding performance. Registration is required.

Elgin Symphony Orchestra Listeners Club

This interactive lecture/discussion series meets during the week of the ESO’s Classics Masterworks series and will broaden your understanding of the music that will be performed. The next program will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Main Library Meadows Community Rooms. Registration is required.

Creative Crafting

Make new friends and socialize while working on your latest craft project. “Crafty Cats (Create & Talk)” will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 17, and Feb. 21, at the South Elgin Branch. No registration is needed — just bring your project.

Stop procrastinating at the “PhD (Projects Half Done) Club” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, in the Rakow Branch Shales Living Room. Register for the program.

The next session of the “Crochet Club” will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, in the Main Library Grove Room. Registration is required.
