Naperville Park District prepares for winter activities

As snow falls and temperatures drop, the Naperville Park District is preparing for winter activities.

Sledding hills will open when there are two or more inches of snow and no visible grass.

The park district also is preparing its ice rinks. However, several days of below freezing temperatures are needed for ice to form. The park district uses a red flag/green flag system to alert residents when ice rinks are open. A red flag means the rink is not open while a green flag indicates the rink is open for use.

Residents also are reminded to check the park district’s website, napervilleparks.org, for information on program cancellations or closures of outdoor facilities due to weather. Residents can also sign up for text or email notifications through the park district’s Rainout Line app.
