Thieves strike Batavia home while residents are sleeping

Burglars broke into an occupied home early Monday morning in the 900 block of Towne Avenue in Batavia, according to police.

The suspects forced their way in during the overnight hours. Residents were at home and asleep. Nobody was harmed.

Police said “numerous” rooms were ransacked, and some unspecified valuable items were taken, according to the news release.

Police are asking nearby residents with home video surveillance cameras to check the video footage for suspicious activity.
