Three Fires Council, BSA has selected its new Scout Executive

After an extensive interviewing process conducted by the selection committee, the Three Fires Council, BSA has announced that Ronald (Ron) A. Wentzell has been selected for the role of Scout Executive.

Three Fires Council's President Brian Caputo said, "The council’s selection committee chose Ron based upon his extensive experience as a Scouting professional -- 26 years as well as his outstanding leadership and administrative skills. We are thrilled to have an individual of Ron’s caliber lead our council into the future."

Wentzell began his Scouting career in 1997 as an Exploring Executive at Three Fires Council. He then successively served as the finance director, field director, director of development, director of support services, and director of field service, all with Three Fires Council.

For the last four months, he has served as the interim Scout Executive for the council. Wentzell is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow.

Throughout his Scouting career, Wentzell has helped the council achieve many successes ranging from increasing Scouting enrollment among local youth; spearheading a successful and safe camp program following the COVID pandemic; leading the council's annual million dollar popcorn sale campaign for many years; creating ways for Scouts with disabilities to enjoy the program fully; and more.
