Montgomery man dies in fatal crash

The Kane County sheriff’s office is investigating a Sunday evening crash that killed a 76-year-old man.

Lawrence Hagemeyer, of Montgomery, was killed in the single-vehicle accident when his car struck a tree off Jericho Road late Sunday evening, authorities said.

Initial investigation indicates that the Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Hagemeyer was eastbound on Jericho in Sugar Grove Township when it left the roadway. According to authorities, the car struck a tree and had damage indicating it may have rolled over. When authorities arrived around 9:45 p.m., they found the car in a ditch on the side of the road.

Hagemeyer was transported to Ascension Mercy Hospital in Aurora, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities said he was wearing his seat belt and the air bags deployed during the crash.
