Demand up nearly 70% at West Suburban Community Pantry

With demand up nearly 70% over the previous year, West Suburban Community Pantry in Woodridge says it served a record 110,000 people in 2023.

About two-thirds of those served were from DuPage County, with the remaining coming from Will County.

The organization expanded its food rescue partnerships with area grocers and produce distributors, which provided 780,000 pounds of fresh food and supplies in 2023. Local garden clubs and churches provided also more than 2,000 pounds of fresh produce.

WSCP also implemented an Instant Language Assistant. The device allows individuals to communicate in different languages either verbally or by keying in words or phrases. WSCPs 2023 clients included speakers of 17 languages.
