No one hurt in Mundelein barn fire
About 90 firefighters battled a blaze that ravaged a barn at a Mundelein farm Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.
No one was hurt in the fire at Beelow Farms, which is on Route 60 northwest of Route 83 and the Mundelein Crossings shopping center, according to a statement on the family-owned company’s Facebook page. No animals were hurt, either.
The farm’s shop was destroyed and a storage shed was damaged, the Beelows reported.
The family thanked the many firefighters from the Lake County area who came to battle the blaze, as well as people who inquired about the fire.
“We appreciate all of the love and support,” the family said.
Mundelein fire officials said firefighters called to the scene at 5:32 p.m. encountered a fully involved barn fire with direct exposure to an adjacent hoop-style hay barn with heavy machinery parked inside.
Water supply and scene access presented challenges to initial arriving companies and operations, officials said. The fire was reported under control at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Damage estimates were not available Thursday and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lake County Fire Investigators Strike Team and the Illinois State Fire Marshal, officials said.
