Trump is no presidential role model
I am writing in response to Larry Eichman’s letter to the editor on Jan. 2. I’m not sure I agree with newsmen calling our former President dumb, blind and stupid, but to say Trump is the best choice for 2024 does, in my opinion, show some ignorance regarding Trump’s past record and future intentions.
Trump does not choose what is best for all Americans. He wants to please those who worship at the altar of Trump and use the office to avenge his “enemies.” He has stated this.
One should listen to the reputable Republicans who worked for him in the White House and later resigned. The list is long, and they have facts. I agree with Mr. Eichman’s list of past presidents who had the respect of both our enemies and our allies. President Biden has that respect and many years of experience as proof.
Our allies are in fear of four more years with Trump. Trump would have us leave NATO. Our enemies have no respect for Trump, though they will do anything to have him elected again, because they know he’s a weak narcissist who admires them.
Trump is responsible for enabling and encouraging division in this country. Trump and Biden are well into their 70s but one should look at the emotional maturity of these two men. A civil jury found the former president guilty of sexual abuse, courts have closed his charitable organization for misappropriating funds, his university had to pay “victims” who allegedly were conned, and his verifiable record of lies and misleading statements are in the tens of thousands. Is this who you want to place beside other former presidents in the history books?
Would you use Trump as a role model for your children? It may be a good time for all of us to do our due diligence before heading to the voting booth.
