Firefighters rescue injured Huntley woman from townhouse fire

A Huntley woman was hospitalized after a fire in a townhouse Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Huntley Fire Protection District firefighters were called to the one-story residential complex on the 12000 block of Regency Parkway for a medical pendant alarm just before 2:40 p.m.

Firefighters saw light smoke coming from the complex and heard a resident calling for help within the townhouse.

Firefighters entered the structure to rescue the woman. She was pulled from the home and taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A Huntley firefighter-paramedic was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

Fire officials credited the building’s sprinkler system for extinguishing the fire. The unit was deemed uninhabitable. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage.
