Advance work planned for Hunt Club Road/Washington Street intersection

Travelers in the area of Hunt Club Road and Washington Street in Gurnee can expect to see crews this winter conduction utility relocation and tree clearing in advance of the 2024 construction season. The Lake County Division of Transportation will improve the intersection to address overall safety and traffic operations by adding dual left-turn lanes and a right-turn lane on all legs of the intersection. The intersection will feature crosswalks with sidewalk ramps designed to ADA standards, and additional stormwater detention and conveyance systems will be installed to address drainage issues. As part of this project, the bike path gap just east of the intersection will be completed and a new path will be installed from Washington Street north to Dada Drive. Visit the project website for more information.
