Sox sign Hill to one-year, $1.8 million deal
The White Sox signed left-handed relief pitcher Tim Hill to a one-year, $1.8-million contract Thursday. The 33-year-old Hill was 1-4 with a 5.48 ERA in 48 games with the Padres last season. Over six major-league seasons with San Diego and Kansas City, Hill is 16-14 with a 4.16 ERA in 320 relief appearances. To clear a spot for Hill on the 40-man roster, the Sox designated reliever Declan Cronin for assignment.
