The real impact of a president
On Dec. 9, letter writer Patricia Bertrand of Wood Dale asked: “Is life better for you now or, honestly, wasn’t it better under Trump’s leadership?” My response:
No, my life was in no way better under the Trump Administration, and has basically gone along in approximately the same fashion during the three years of Biden’s Administration. However,
I have always believed that it is not up to one single individual to magically make life a panacea for each and every person in the country. Furthermore, I would remind the writer that prices of goods and services always rise; rarely do they backslide to what they were only a few short years before. Prices rose during Trump’s Administration too, and they won’t fall back to 2016-2020 levels regardless of the outcome of next year’s election.
As for “...our southern border is being invaded with millions of illegal immigrants,” While this is true in part, illegal immigrants have been entering our country long before Biden took office; many have been here for years if not decades.
As far as her question concerning “What happened to freedom of speech?” and her insistence that everyone “Do your research. Don’t just spew back what the obviously left-leaning media says,” apparently she does not understand that she too is exercising her right to free speech by bashing the left and dictating to readers what she deems they must do.
As for her plea to “...quit bashing a patriot (Trump) who cares about this country, ” I would remind Ms. Bertrand that freedom of speech works both ways, but dictating your views to others is rarely effective. Isn’t this an amazing system we have at our disposal?
I think so.
