Luther College’s Nordic Choir to perform at Huntley church Jan. 28

The esteemed Luther College student Nordic Choir will be perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley.

The Nordic Choir is the principal touring choir of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Under the direction of Dr. Andrew Last, it honors the Lutheran choral tradition while featuring new and innovative choral works.

Highlights of the program include choral classics from Rachmaninoff and Hassler, contemporary premieres by Zachary Moore, and selections from the fusion oratorio “Considering Matthew Shepard.”

The public is invited to hear and experience the esteemed Nordic Choir, which was founded in 1946. It enjoys national and international stature as one of the premier collegiate choral ensembles in the United States.

No tickets are necessary to attend the performance, which is sponsored by the SOTP Artist Series. A free will collection will be taken to support the choir.
