Bulls center Vucevic sidelined indefinitely by muscle strain

Bulls center Nikola Vucevic was scratched from Tuesday's home game against Atlanta, and it sounds like his absence could continue for a few days.

The injury is officially being called a left adductor contusion. Coach Billy Donovan referred to it as a groin strain, which is also accurate.

The injury likely stemmed from Saturday's game when Cleveland forward Max Strus soared over Vucevic for a dunk. Vucevic doubled over after the play, grabbing his midsection, but stayed in the game.

“He had an MRI, confirmed he's got a strain there in the muscle, so a lot of it is going to be how he responds to rehab,” Donovan said before Tuesday's game. “He was obviously was pretty sore after the game and over Christmas. Came in today for treatment. We'll probably have a better feel for (the timeline) in a few days.”

Andre Drummond was announced as the starting center for the Atlanta game. Donovan suggested 6-5 forward Terry Taylor will see backup minutes in an undersized lineup. The Bulls also had two-way player Adama Sanogo available. The 6-9 former UConn star is averaging 17.7 points and 10.8 rebounds in the G-League for the Windy City Bulls.
