Retired teacher appointed to Avon Township board
The Avon Township board is back at full strength with the recent appointment of Patricia Keefe Sloan, a retired teacher from Grayslake, to fill a vacancy.
Sloan was one of two candidates nominated at a recent special town hall meeting to fill the unexpired term Michael Dobrow, who resigned in August. The term runs until 2025.
She defeated Travis Haley by a 106-42 vote of those in attendance. Both candidates had resumes and letters of intent to run available at the meeting. According to the township, state law required a replacement for the open trustee position to have had supported the slate the trustee who left listed on filing petitions, in this case Avon Focused.
