Don’t confuse ratings, quality in sports talk radio
Jim O’Donnell conflates ratings with quality. Does that mean fewer people getting their news from newspapers must imply that the quality of the Daily Herald has suffered? He should listen to the discussion in 670 last week of Tommy Devito by Laurence Holmes, Leila Rahimi, Dan Bernstein and Dan Wiederer with Mike Florio to get a sense of great, provocative, complex sports discussion. He should listen to Mike Mulligan every morning have nuanced opinions on the issues of the day. He should appreciate Brad Biggs and Wiederer shutting down David Haugh’s pot-stirring. It’s great radio.
Please ask Mr. O’Donnell to actually listen and report. Based on his writing, I picture him looking up at a signed picture of Red Smith (that he bought at an auction) and whispering to himself “they broke the mold with you, buddy”.
