South Elgin man shot to death outside Hoffman Estates apartment complex

A 42-year-old South Elgin man was shot to death early Saturday morning at a Hoffman Estates apartment complex, authorities said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office said a gunshot wound to the face caused the death of Maurice Hill.

Hill was found in the parking lot at the Barrington Lakes Apartments on the 2200 block of Hassell Road early Saturday morning and transported to St. Alexius Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 6 a.m., according to Hoffman Estates police.

Police officials did not say if anyone is in custody.

Hill’s murder remains under investigation by Hoffman Estates police and the Major Case Assistance Team.
