Police: Missing Elk Grove Village teen returns home

An Elk Grove Village teen who had been reported missing has returned home safely, police said Saturday.
Alyaza Lopez, 14, had last been in contact with family just before midnight Thursday, Elk Grove Village police said in an alert early Saturday morning. At the time police believed she may have been on her way to New York, where she had lived previously.
But late Saturday afternoon, police updated the alert, stating that she had returned home and thanking the public for its assistance.
