Carol Stream, Hanover Park recognized as ‘EV Ready’

Carol Stream and Hanover Park have been designated as an “EV Ready Community” through a program created to help towns prepare for the growth of electric vehicles in Illinois.

Under the program, a dozen communities updated zoning codes to support new charging infrastructure, developed new permitting and inspection processes, trained first responders and created online resources to educate residents and businesses about electric vehicles.

The EV Readiness Program was launched last year by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd. The first class of municipalities to complete the program include: Carol Stream, Darien, Deer Park, Geneva, Glencoe, Hampshire, Hanover Park, Maywood, Oak Park, Polo, Skokie and University Park.

Carol Stream and Hanover Park were among the towns that earned the bronze-level designation under the program.
