Shots fired between two cars in Des Plaines, police say

No one was hurt Thursday morning when gunshots were fired between moving cars in Des Plaines, police said.

The violence began about 8 a.m. in a residential area on the 2000 block of East Touhy Avenue. Police didn’t immediately know if occupants of one or both of the vehicles fired.

The gunshots continued as the vehicles -- one white, one silver or tan -- drove through a residential neighborhood north of Touhy Avenue on Chase Avenue, Magnolia Street, Scott Street and Cedar Street, a police spokesman said. No homes were hit.

The cars were gone before police arrived.

As a security measure prompted by the shooting, no one was able to enter or leave Iroquois Community School on the 1800 block of East Touhy or Orchard Place Elementary School on nearby Maple Avenue for about an hour, police said.

Anyone with information can call Des Plaines police at (847) 391-5400.
