Christmas is the perfect time to have faith

“The righteous will live by faith.”

– Romans 1:17 (NIV)

It’s Christmas! Faith, belief, and expectations fill the air. Is your faith alive this Christmas? Some people believe faith is only for the young, while others think, “Why believe anything, it will only bring disappointment when it doesn’t happen.”

We can get so bogged down in the cares of this life that our faith feels as if it has dwindled from a flame to a burning ember. We think faith is based on our feelings: “If I don’t feel faith I must not have any.” Did you know God has placed a measure of faith in each of our hearts? It’s one of the greatest gifts given to us.

Faith is one of those basic elements God has provided us so we can receive Christ as our savior and live a successful Christian life.

Romans 12:3 reminds us that we are to think with the measure of faith we have been given. Faith believes in the power of God to help us. It believes God is good; and that he sends wisdom and answers to our prayers. It expects the impossible to take place and releases the manifestation of the dreams invisibly hidden away in our hearts.

Christmastime can be a book of Luke. Imagine the faith of the Virgin Mary, as she believed God could change the lives of all mankind with the unborn child she was carrying. Ponder how the wise men cast their human logic aside and dared to follow the star shining brightly in the sky - which led them to Christ, who provides forgiveness for all - simply though faith.

Let’s ask God to help us remove our doubts and rekindle our measure of faith this Christmas. And not to just hope for something good to happen, but believe for our dreams to come true.
