Fox River Valley Chapter, NSDAR will join volunteers and participating locations across the country to Remember, Honor and Teach

Hampshire, IL — December 11, 2023 — Fox River Valley Chapter, NSDAR will again support Wreaths Across America at participating locations Hampshire Center, Doty, Aurand and St. Charles Borromeo cemeteries as part of the national organization's Group Sponsorship Program.

This is the third year that Fox River Valley Chapter, NSDAR will participate in the national program whose mission is to “remember the fallen, honor those who served, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.”

The goal for Fox River Valley Chapter is to support efforts that help unify our community and celebrate our freedom by thanking the more than 430 veterans laid to rest at Hampshire Center, Doty, Aurand and St. Charles Borromeo cemeteries with the placement of a live, balsam veteran's wreath this Saturday.

The chapter will hold two ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 16. The first will be at 11 a.m. at Hampshire Center Cemetery and the second at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.

Volunteers will place a wreath, thank an interred veteran for their sacrifices, and say their name aloud to keep their memory alive for family, friends, and their community at a time of year when they are missed the most.

“We are forever grateful to all the volunteers and groups who dedicate their time, energy and resources nationwide to fulfilling this yearlong mission,” said Karen Worcester, executive director, Wreaths Across America. “These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and with their continued support, Wreaths Across America continues to grow.”
