Hanover Park man pleads not guilty to selling ghost guns, machine-gun converter

A Hanover Park man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he sold ghost guns to undercover federal agents.

Jeffrey Levander, 43, of the 4400 block of Bell Lane, is charged with gunrunning, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful sale or delivery of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm without a firearm owners identification card, and unlawful sale or delivery of an unserialized firearm.

Levander was arrested Nov. 17, and has been held in the DuPage County jail since then.

A statewide grand jury indicted Levander. The Illinois Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case.

The indictment alleges Levander sold two unserialized firearms, commonly known as “ghost guns,” a machine-gun conversion device and a spring-loaded knife to a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives undercover agent three times in October and November, in Cook and DuPage counties.

The conversion device is designed to make a semi-automatic firearm capable of fully automatic fire.

The indictment alleges Levander sold a Glock 43 model clone for $1,400, a Glock 17 clone for $2,200 and the device and the knife for $600.

Authorities searched his house Nov. 17 and found a similar firearm, ammunition, and firearm parts, according to a news release from the attorney general.

Hanover Park Police aided the investigation.
