Dr. Shafa Amirsoltani installed as Chicago Dental Society's West Side branch director

A practicing general dentist for 30 years, Shafa Amirsoltani, D.D.S., of Elmwood Park, Illinois, was installed as Chicago Dental Society's (CDS) West Side Branch Director on Nov. 12. Dr. Amirsoltani has previously held several leadership positions within the CDS West Side Branch, culminating in being branch president, and currently serves on the Mediation and Peer Review Committees for the West Side Branch.

As West Side Branch director, Dr. Amirsoltani will help govern the West Side Branch members, drive engagement, recruit new CDS members, and help with preparations for the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 22 - 24, 2024. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today's leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

Dr. Amirsoltani holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the National University of Iran and earned her dental degree from the Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to her leadership roles within CDS, Dr. Amirsoltani has served on the Board of Trustees and as Delegate and Alternate Delegate of the Illinois State Dental Society. She is a member and has served as Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the American Dental Association, and she is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the American College of Dentists. Additionally, Dr. Amirsoltani has served on the Board of Trustees and on the Board of Managers for the Chicago Dental Society Foundation. She has served as Chair, Secretary, and on the Board of Directors of the Iranian American Medical Association. Dr. Amirsoltani was also one of the founders of the Persian American Medical Association (PAMA). She previously served as a clinical instructor at Northwestern University and a faculty member at the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Currently, Dr. Amirsolani runs her private practice, Best Practice Dental, where she has provided high-quality dental care to families and communities in Oak Park, Elmwood Park, River Forest, and River Grove for more than 30 years. She is an active advocate for public health and volunteers her time with organizations working towards creating healthier communities, including the Chicago Dental Society Foundation Clinic, the Mission of Mercy, Cure Network Clinic, Give Kids A Smile, and Remote Area Medical (R.A.M.).

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
