Victorian-themed holiday celebration to take over Glen Ellyn History Center

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will host a Victorian-inspired holiday celebration Saturday evening with costumed carolers out of the pages of a Charles Dickens novel.

Elaborately decorated gingerbread houses will go on display as part of the festivities. Past entries in the society's annual gingerbread contest re-created the independent Bookstore of Glen Ellyn and other charming village landmarks.

Twig and Bloom Garden Club has decked out Stacy's Tavern, a stagecoach inn built in 1846 and used as a museum. It will be open for guests to tour by candlelight.

At the Glen Ellyn History Center along Main Street, families can craft Victorian-themed ornaments and enjoy snacks and hot chocolate.

Canterbury Carolers will perform throughout the event, from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for historical society members and free for children with paid adult. For details, call (630) 469-1867 or visit gehs.org.
