Man charged with firing gun at car, house in Villa Park

A man has been charged with shooting a gun in Villa Park.

Jacorey Hughes, 22, of the 1400 block of South 59th Court in Chicago, is charged with three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Hughes allegedly fired a handgun several times around 11:33 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Kolberg Court, near Oakland Avenue, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

He was walking southbound on Oakland. Several bullets hit an occupied vehicle and a nearby house, authorities allege. He then threw a Ruger 9 mm handgun into a bush. Authorities say they recovered a bullet from a vehicle, several bullets from the outside walls of the house, and six shell casings on Oakland.

Hughes was arrested in Oakbrook Terrace.

He was placed on electronic home monitoring and released from jail on Thursday. Prosecutors had asked that he be detained pretrial.
