Authorities ID homicide victim found along Lake County road

Authorities have identified a 39-year-old Chicago woman as the person found dead along a northern Lake County road Wednesday morning in an apparent homicide.

Preliminary autopsy results show Megan Lewis' death was consistent with strangulation, the Lake County Coroner's Office announced Thursday.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies called to a stretch of Hunt Club Road south of Route 173 in Old Mill Creek found Lewis' body on the east shoulder at about 7 a.m. Wednesday.

An initial investigation indicated that Lewis was the victim of a homicide and then dumped on the side of the road during the early morning hours, sheriff's police said.

Sheriff's detectives continue to investigate the killing, authorities said Thursday.
