Carriage rides create holiday ambience in downtown Geneva
Add a touch of whimsy and magic to your holiday season with a complimentary carriage ride through downtown Geneva.
Available weekends Saturday, Dec. 2, through Saturday, Dec. 23, the carriage rides pick up passengers at Third and James streets. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The dates are Dec. 2-3, 9-10, 16-17 and 23.
"It is a great way to see the downtown all decked out for the holidays," said Laura Rush, Communications Director for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. "Plus, it is also a treat for the family and in many instances a tradition."
Rush said the carriage rides have been a cherished part of the season for more than 30 years. The rides offer a perfect setting for holiday photos, engagements and memories the whole family will treasure for years to come. Rides are complimentary because of the generous support from Gerald Subaru of North Aurora.
"Support of all our sponsors is always important as it takes a lot to put on our festivals and events," Rush said. "Gerald has been a trusted sponsor of many different events. The carriage rides are something they have sponsored for many years. We know the carriage rides are always appreciated by locals and visitors alike. The opportunity to do something free of charge with family is hard to find these days, so we are grateful to Gerald for assisting in this tradition."
Donna Lawler of Gerald Subaru of North Aurora said Gerald is excited to be part of such a festive activity that's sure to get folks in the holiday spirit.
"Anytime we can do something that helps families celebrate this time of year, it's a win for us," Lawler said. "What's more magical than an old-fashioned carriage ride through a beautiful historic downtown decked out for the holiday season?"
