Wheeling AMVETS donates winter clothes to charity

A Wheeling nonprofit veterans group collected more than 100 coats, sweatshirts and other pieces of winter wear during a clothing drive.

Members of AMVETS Post No. 66 delivered the items to the Midwest Veterans Closet in North Chicago on Monday, the Wheeling group announced.

Midwest Veterans Closet gives food, clothing and other items to needy military veterans and their families.

The Wheeling Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Vernon Hills Golf Course staff assisted with the clothing drive, according to the AMVETS post.
