Woman charged with fleeing police at 122 mph
A woman has been charged with trying to flee police at 122 miles per hour in Naperville.
Pretrial release was denied Sunday morning for Imira Williams, 22, of the 600 block of North Randall Road, Aurora. She is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding and misdemeanor attempted aggravated assault and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, according to DuPage County court records.
A news release from the state's attorney's office stated that at around 1:18 a.m. Saturday, Naperville police were conducting surveillance in the parking lot of an entertainment business in the 1500 block of Aurora Avenue. The officers allege they saw a gun between the center console and the passenger seat of a vehicle.
Williams and an unknown man entered the car and smoked cannabis, according to police.
When officers asked them to get out, Williams did, but the man started moving items around the car. He then ran off, and Williams got in the car and drove away, according to police.
Police allege she made a U-turn on a dead-end street and drove directly at an officer in a squad car, disobeyed seven red lights, got onto I-88 and drove 122 mph. She eventually pulled over and was arrested, according to the news release.
