Former Dundee-Crown, NIU great Mark Kellar passes away at age 71

Former Northern Illinois University running back Mark Kellar passed away Thursday at age 71 at his home in Minneapolis. A Dundee-Crown High School graduate, he was the most productive fullback in Northern Illinois history. He ran for a then school-record 3,745 yards with 33 touchdowns and 20 100-yard rushing games from 1971-73. He became the 18th player in major-college history to crack the 3,000-yard all-time ground mark. Kellar is one of only four Huskies with his jersey (No. 31) retired. Kellar was drafted by in the sixth round by the Minnesota Vikings and the seventh round by Chicago Fire of the WFL.
