Watch for detours Saturday during the St. Charles Electric Parade

The 2023 St. Charles Electric Parade is scheduled to step off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on Main Street (Route 64).

It begins at Sixth Street and travels east, ending at Fourth Avenue. Traffic on both Main Street and Second Street (Route 31) will be detoured beginning at 5:15 p.m.

A parking ban will be in effect on the detour route (Illinois Street, 7th Street, and State Street) as well as the parade route from 2 p.m. until approximately 7 p.m.

There also will be a parking ban in effect for the parade staging area consisting of: Walnut Street between Third and Seventh streets; Fourth Street between Illinois and Main streets; Fifth Street from Illinois to Main streets; Sixth Street from Illinois to Cedar streets; and Walnut Avenue from Fifth to South Second avenues.

The St. Charles Police Department is urging the public to exercise caution when driving or attending the parade, which will be held after dark.

Drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes, as traffic delays could be lengthy. There will be additional police, crossing guards and emergency management personnel assigned to the parade to help ensure public safety and assist with traffic flow.
