Holiday Train rolling into Gurnee on Dec. 3

The Holiday Train is expected to visit Gurnee this year on Sunday, December 3, according to the village.

The train is expected to arrive at Viking Park at 5:10 p.m., on the east side of the tracks near Depot Road. The event will include a holiday concert from a stage on one of the boxcars.

The nearly 1.000-foot Holiday Train features 14 rail cars, each decorated with hundreds of thousands of LED lights.

The event is free, but there will be a collection of nonperishable food to support the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Since the first Holiday Train event in 1999, the program has raised more than $9 million and collected 3.9 million pounds of food.
