Trump would take privilege to new level
Republicans, Democrats and Independents should carefully listen to what Donald Trump is saying he'll do if he's elected in 2024. If you read the recent column by reporters from The Washington Post, you'd be very distressed at what our former president proposes to do for revenge to people who have criticized him. Trump would take his executive privileges to a new level. Stopping Trump if he's the Republican candidate, is imperative.
He said he'd have the Justice Department investigate onetime officials and allies who became critical of his time in office. He's said in public that he'd appoint a special prosecutor to "go after" President Biden and his family.
You might think that Trump's just running at the mouth, no, believe what he says. He really sounds like a mob boss planning the demise of his enemies. His behavior in court was demeaning to the whole legal system. If ordinary citizens verbally attacked the judge and other members of the court, we would serve jail time.
Trump says he'd deploy the military for domestic law enforcement under the Insurrection Act. Legally he would be able to call out the military against peaceful demonstrators, against any groups that criticize him or his policies. Remember, he said Mexicans are rapists. On Charlottesville torchlight parade with white supremest and Nazis, he said there were very fine people on both sides. There are no "very fine" Nazis. Remember his feud with the Muslim American Gold Star family?
We have to ask ourselves if we really want a fascist/authoritarian leader who has shown his bigotry and lack of respect for our laws and our Constitution, who seeks to emulate Russia's Putin.
If he becomes the Republican candidate for president in 2024, if he isn't prosecuted by the courts in all his indictments, he must be stopped at the ballot box.
Ordinary citizens, Republicans, Democrats and Independents who want to preserve our republic need to make sure Donald Trump never holds the office of president again by voting, in mass, against him in the 2024 election.
