Columnist overlooked key word on immigration

In the Sunday, Nov. 5 Daily Herald. Keith Raffel, I would guess a self-proclaimed liberal being a resident scholar at Harvard, expresses dismay that the new speaker of the House believes immigration is the most serious threat to the country.

He goes on to say that Ronald Reagan was for immigration. The key word he left out is "illegal." I don't believe Mike Johnson or Ronald Reagan are against legal immigrants, after all, we are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants. Then he goes on to quote a verse from the Bible in Leviticus that seems to support his position.

It is always interesting to me that liberals pick and choose verses from the Bible that support their positions but ignore others that they don't agree with. I believe Mr. Raffel would find that breaking the law is not condoned by the Bible. As a Bible believing Christ follower, I believe you accept the whole Bible, not just the parts you agree with.
