Both parties today have forgotten their past

First, I would like to thank the Herald for being a fair source of information during my lifetime.

The paper is still alive and in my opinion has surpassed the Times and the Trib in giving us facts so we can digest news and form an opinion, on our own.

I've read all three papers for 50 years.

President Reagan and Speaker O'Neil from the 1980s worked out differences by seeing a bigger picture. In my opinion they were the last true Republican and Democrat that lead this Nation together. They compromised. They were looking at a bigger picture. The future.

Their parties no longer exist.

Let's give new names for the two parties currently driving this train.

Our current electorate use Republican and Democrat as an identity but don't understand the history. The current parties (both) have forgotten their upbringing and history. They both put an emphasis on separation and hatred to motivate.

These parties do not deserve to use the name Republican or Democrat.
