Police: Man found shot along railroad tracks near downtown Elgin

Police are investigating after a man was found shot late Saturday afternoon along the railroad tracks near downtown Elgin.

According to Elgin police, officers were called at about 5:51 p.m. to a reported shooting along the railroad about 300 yards north of Kimball Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man with undisclosed injuries. Police said he was taken to a hospital for treatment, but did not provide information about his condition.

The Metra Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from Elgin police.
